MOISTURE DETECTION MEASUREMENT (DFR)
The moisture detection measurement (DFR – Dielectric Frequency Response) is an advanced diagnostic to determine the moisture present in both insulating materials and in the insulating fluid.
In DFR measurement, a voltage at variable frequencies (from fractions of a Hertz up to several thousand Hertz) is applied between the parts of the transformer to be analyzed.
The current response is then recorded for each frequency. The measurement provides a complete dielectric profile that shows how the insulating material responds to different frequencies.
DFR measurement is considered one of the most reliable methodologies for insulation analysis in transformers.
